Ziad Doueiri was born in Lebanon and studied filmmaking in the United States. He has made several short Super 8 and 16mm films and worked as an assistant cameraman on several features directed by Quentin Tarantino. His first feature as a director, West Beirut (98), played at the 1998 Toronto Festival, where it shared the FIPRESCI International Critics Award. Lila dit ça (04) is his second feature.
